During the procedure, a titanium screw is placed into your jawbone. This screw will be secured to your jaw, making it as strong as a natural tooth. Then, a healing cap will be attached to the screw to make sure that your mouth heals quickly and properly. Complete healing can take anywhere from 3-9 months. Once your jaw is fully healed, you will return to have a dental crown placed. Dental crowns are created in a lab to match the bite and color of your teeth perfectly. What To Expect With Your Dental Implants
If a bone graft is necessary, it will be placed during the first surgical appointment and then allowed to heal.
After the bone graft is healed, a hole is drilled into the bone, and the implant is screwed into place.
3 to 6 months is the time needed for the gums to heal over the implant and the bone support to re-form and stabilize.
After the bone is fully healed, the end of the implant is exposed, and an abutment is placed on top of it.
A permanent crown is cemented to the abutment and checked for bite and function.
