Tips for Better Gum Health

Tips for Better Gum Health

A study conducted between 2009 and 2010 indicated that some sixty-four million adults in the U.S. suffer from gum disease of some level, whether it be mild or severe. This means that forty-two percent of American adults are not paying enough attention to their oral health. Aside from seeing your dentist regularly, there are some tips patients can try to make sure their gums stay healthy and avoid the need for periodontics.

Good Hygiene Practices

Patients should always be sure to clean the teeth the appropriate amount of times a day. This includes brushing in the morning and at night, flossing at least once a day, and using mouthwash as instructed.

Gum Massages

Massaging the gums can revitalize the gum tissue and reduce any pain caused by gum disease. Using oils such as eucalyptus or peppermint can help boost blood flow.

Green Tea

Tea is beneficial for many things in many parts of the body, and the gums are included in that list, as well. Green tea is especially helpful to promote oral health, as it has an efficient antibacterial effect. It can also eliminate bad breath.

Of course, maintaining a healthy diet is also hugely beneficial to having a healthy, happy mouth.
